He learns that only one person is worthy of entering the cave. It begins with Jafar, the Sultan’s advisor attempting to steal a magic lamp from the Cave of Wonders. The story is set in the fictional kingdom of Agrabah. I absolutely loved this story as a child! Aladdin keeps young readers engaged and on the edge of their seats. This fantasy encourages divergent thinking – encouraging young readers to enjoy the book while allowing them to compare the difference of what’s fantasy and what’s real. Young readers, especially boys enjoy stories with action – Aladdin fighting evil magic, saving Jasmine and her father from evil Jafar. Younger readers, especially girls enjoy stories with romance – Aladdin and Jasmine fall in love. This book would appeal to young readers because of the use of magic and the characters - a princess and prince. This story is an enchanting journey with lots of magic altering the rise and fall of the plot. I rated Aladdin five stars because of the incredible use of language, imagery, characters, and the dramatic plot. This story contains lots of magic and mystery. Aladdin hoping to one day be rich so he’ll never have to steal again, and Jasmine hoping to one day marry for love. This story is about a poor boy named Aladdin and a Princess named Jasmine’s journey. It is intended for the audience ages three to six years. Aladdin by Don Ferguson is placed under the genre Children Literature as a fantasy.
